Southern Colorado Repertory Theatre (SCRT) delights audiences all summer with three plays in repertory. SCRT’s 2007 program, “Catfish, Pasta, and Wheaties—A celebration of the human spirit” begins on June 15 with the opening night gala for The Boys Next Door, comedy with a message. On opening night for each of the three plays, theatre-goers share champagne and dessert with the cast after the performance. Italian American Reconciliation opens on June 29, Pumpboys and Dinettes on July 13. See Events, June-August, or scrtheatre.com for the full 2007 summer schedule. SCRT also conducts a Junior Academy every summer with four performances of two plays especially for children. See late July and early August in Events.
The Triniddadio Blues Fest brings thousands to Trinidad every August. Festivities begin in 2007 with the Pre-Fest on Friday evening, August 24, at the Lucky Monkey, Trinidad’s premier event hall in the historic district. On Saturday, August 25, fans and their families will gather for a day-long celebration with the best of the blues in Trinidad’s Central Park.

Singer-songwriter Joseph Martinez plays New Mexico and country music. His CD In Our Eyes (bilingual) is available at Virgil’s Music and Marty Feeds. He can be seen locally at the Trinidad Brewing Company.
Ken Saydak—Chicago-born pianist, singer, songwriter—has been performing, touring, and recording for over thirty years. He has appeared on more than fifty albums and CDs with internationally known artists such as Johnny Winter, Lonnie Brooks, and Koko Taylor. His releases as a solo artist, Foolish Man, Love Without Trust, and It's My Soul, are available at all the online CD retail sites as well as Virgil's Music in Trinidad. When not touring or recording, Ken can be seen locally at the Monte Cristo Bar and the Trinidad Brewing Company. He also is a regular performer at the annual Trinidaddio Blues Fest in August. Jaquie Gipson plays contemporary folk on 6- and 12-string guitar. She is known for her unique style of providing percussion with a “double-finger-tapping” style. A one-man band, vocalist Dennis Hawley plays keyboard, sax, and guitar. His music encompasses country western, old time rock & roll, and variety including big band. He has performed at Spanish Peaks Inn in Gulnare, Jujo’s, and Elks clubs. Hawley peforms at weddings, parties, and other gatherings and events. The Trinidaires is in its sixteenth year as one of Trinidad’s most popular groups. Playing traditional 1930s and 40s big band music as well as Latin and other selections, the group is heard at many local events and also presents a free concert every summer at Kit Carson Park. The Trinidaires are available for fundraisers, local events, weddings and anniversaries, concerts in the park.
